fishing.ie uses data from several public sources to provide fishing intelligence, weather conditions, and mapping. This page details each source and its licence terms.

Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI)

The intelligence reports, season analysis, catch statistics, hatch timelines, and fishing map data on fishing.ie are derived from fishing reports published by Inland Fisheries Ireland at fishinginireland.info. This includes:

  • Fishing reports covering trout, salmon, pike, coarse, and sea angling (2011–2025)
  • Fish counter data and catch statistics
  • Venue-level fishing conditions and hatch observations

Open-Meteo

Historical weather data used in Intelligence condition analysis (wind direction, temperature, cloud cover, precipitation) is provided by Open-Meteo. This data is used to correlate fishing outcomes with weather conditions across multiple seasons.

Open-Meteo provides free weather data for non-commercial use with attribution.

Met Éireann

Current weather conditions and 5-day forecasts displayed on venue pages are provided by Met Éireann via their public API.

OpenStreetMap & CARTO

All maps on fishing.ie use OpenStreetMap data and CARTO tile layers. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, tiles © CARTO. Attribution is displayed on all map interfaces.

Office of Public Works (OPW)

River level data displayed on river venue pages is sourced from waterlevel.ie, operated by the Office of Public Works.
