Angling Services Ireland is run by Bodo Funke, a German-born guide who moved to Ireland in 1999 and has been running his guiding business from Boyle, Co. Roscommon since 2001. Based in the heart of the north-west Lakelands, Bodo specialises in pike and predator fishing on the lakes and rivers of Roscommon, Leitrim, and the Upper Shannon — waters that include Lough Key, Lough Arrow, Lough Gara, and the River Shannon itself.
Bodo holds a Marine and Countryside Certificate (achieved with distinction) and offers a full range of guided fishing services: pike on lure, fly, jerk bait, trolling, and deadbait; guided trout fishing on lakes and rivers; and multi-day package angling holidays that include accommodation at his family-run B&B. His guiding boat is a 2025 Finval Fishpro 595 equipped with Humminbird electronics and Mega Live sonar. All tackle and safety equipment is provided.
A strict catch-and-release policy applies to all pike. Bodo and his wife Tina also offer comfortable B&B accommodation at their home in Boyle, making Angling Services Ireland a genuine one-stop option for visiting anglers — particularly the European pike anglers who return year after year.
