The fishery comprises the Bundorragha River — a short, fast-dropping spate river with a succession of holding pools ideal for fly fishing — along with two mountain lakes, Finlough and Doolough, which fish from April through September.
Fishing is strictly limited to 12 rods (8 in early season), rotated between the river and lakes on a half-daily basis. Fly only is the general rule, making this a genuine sport fishing destination. The fishery operates a successful salmon hatchery that has played a significant role in rebuilding the Bundorragha's salmon run. David McEvoy, Fishery and Estate Manager, has overseen the fishery for many years and is one of the most knowledgeable voices on wild Atlantic salmon in the west of Ireland.
The 1830s country house lodge offers accommodation in 13 ensuite rooms with full board fishing packages. A fly fishing school and ghillie service are available for guests who want expert guidance on the water. The fishery is open from February 1st to September 30th for salmon, with current all catch-and-release required for sea trout.
