Six boats are available on Inagh with outboard engines, while Derryclare offers bank and pier fishing from three purpose-built butts — a unique Connemara tradition.
The fishery is fly only, with numbers strictly limited to preserve the quality of the fishing. Spring salmon, grilse, sea trout, and wild brown trout all feature, with salmon recorded to 15 lbs and sea trout to 5 lbs in recent seasons. Experienced ghillies can be booked through the lodge and are well worth the investment, particularly for visiting anglers unfamiliar with the loughs.
The fishery fishes best in high water conditions and rarely colours, making it remarkably consistent when other Connemara waters are blown out. The season runs from early summer through autumn, with July onwards the prime period for salmon and sea trout.
