Explore 111+ Venues Across Ireland

The Explore Venues page on fishing.ie showing venue cards with species badges, season dates, and difficulty ratings

Every venue on fishing.ie has a detailed profile page covering species, seasons, methods, tactics, access information, regulations, and local knowledge — the kind of information that used to take hours of research or a phone call to a local tackle shop.

What you'll find on each venue page:

  • Species profiles — what swims there, when they're active, and what they feed on
  • Seasonal guides — month-by-month breakdown of what to expect
  • Tactics & fly patterns — proven methods for each period, with common mistakes to avoid
  • Fishing zones — the best drifts, beats, and marks, explained by people who fish them
  • Access & regulations — how to get there, what permits you need, and the rules that apply
  • FAQs — practical questions answered, from boat hire to best conditions

Use the Explore Venues page to filter by region, county, species, difficulty, or venue type (lough, river, coastal, fishery). Switch between list and map views to find water near you.

Find Water on the Map

The interactive map view on fishing.ie showing colour-coded venue markers across Ireland

The interactive map on the Explore Venues page shows every venue as a colour-coded marker — blue for loughs, dark blue for rivers, green for coastal marks, and brown for fisheries.

Zoom in to a region, tap a marker, and jump straight to the venue profile. It's the fastest way to discover water you didn't know existed, especially if you're planning a trip to an unfamiliar part of the country.

Each venue page also has its own map in the sidebar, so you can see exactly where it is and plan your drive.

Read Real Reports From Anglers on the Water

Every venue page has a Reports tab showing what anglers have actually experienced — catches, conditions, methods, and photos from real sessions.

This isn't marketing copy or press releases. It's first-hand intelligence from people who've been on the water this week, this month, this season. You'll see:

  • What species were caught and in what numbers
  • What methods and flies worked
  • What the conditions were like (weather, water level, clarity)
  • Photos from the session
  • The angler's own narrative — what went right, what didn't, and what they'd do differently

Reports build up over time into a living picture of each venue. The more anglers contribute, the smarter everyone's fishing gets.

Submit Your Own Reports in Two Minutes

After a session, submit a report to share what you found. The form is designed to be quick — you can fill it in on the drive home.

What you can include:

  • The venue you fished
  • Date and conditions
  • Methods used
  • A written narrative of your session
  • Catches with species, size, and whether you kept or released
  • Photos from the day
  • Privacy toggle — choose whether your report is public or private

Every report you submit also appears in your personal fishing log on the My Fishing page. So even if you mark it private, it becomes part of your own record.

Follow Your Favourite Venues

Tap the heart icon on any venue card or venue page to follow that venue. Followed venues appear in a dedicated tab on your My Fishing page, where you can see the latest reports from every venue you care about — all in one feed.

It's the fastest way to stay on top of what's happening on your regular waters without having to check each venue individually.

Following is instant, works from anywhere (the Explore page, homepage cards, or venue profile hero), and you can unfollow just as easily.

Your Personal Fishing Dashboard

The My Fishing dashboard on fishing.ie showing stats bar, activity feed, recent sessions, and followed venues

The My Fishing page is your home base on fishing.ie. At the top you'll see your profile, member-since date, and a stats bar showing sessions logged, fish caught, venues fished, venues followed, and public reports.

Dashboard — Your activity feed at a glance: recent reports, recent sessions, and followed venues — all on one screen.

My Log — Every report you've submitted, ordered by date fished. Tap any report to see the full details, including your photos in a lightbox viewer. Need to fix a typo or add a photo you forgot? Hit Edit on any of your reports to update it.

Followed Venues — A feed of the latest reports from every venue you follow. Check in here before a trip to see what's been happening on the water.

Venue Reports — Reports from the venues you follow, all in one feed.

My Clubs — See the clubs you belong to and jump straight to their profiles.

My Services — If you're a registered service provider (guide, ghillie, charter), manage your provider profile from here.

Alerts — Get email notifications when someone submits a new report on a venue you follow. Toggle notifications on or off per venue, and one-click unsubscribe from any email. Never miss a hot bite again.

Your profile picture appears in the nav bar and on your reports. You can upload and crop a photo directly from the My Fishing page.

Live Weather on Every Venue

Every venue page shows live weather data pulled from Met Éireann — Ireland's national meteorological service. You'll see:

  • Current temperature and conditions
  • Wind speed and direction
  • A 5-day forecast

This isn't a generic regional forecast. It's the weather at the venue's actual coordinates, so you can make a genuine call about whether conditions suit the fishing you're planning.

Live River Levels for River Venues

A river venue page on fishing.ie showing the live river level widget with sparkline chart, trend indicator, and weather forecast

River venue pages show live water level data pulled from the OPW (Office of Public Works) via waterlevel.ie. You'll see:

  • A sparkline chart showing recent water level trends at a glance
  • A trend indicator — whether the river is rising, falling, or stable
  • Contextual fishing hints — what the current level means for your fishing

For river anglers, water level is often the single most important factor in deciding whether to go. Now you can check it right on the venue page before you leave the house.

Find Guides, Ghillies & Charter Operators

A service provider profile on fishing.ie showing photo gallery, contact details, and stats

The Providers section lets you find fishing service providers across Ireland — guides, ghillies, charter boat operators, and more.

Each provider profile includes:

  • A description of their services and experience
  • A photo gallery of their operation
  • An availability calendar so you can see when they're free
  • An enquiry form to get in touch directly
  • Reviews from other anglers — star ratings, written reviews with trip details, so you can see what others thought before you book

Providers can claim and manage their own profiles, and you can sort the listings by Highest Rated to find the best-reviewed operators. If you're a visiting angler who doesn't know the local waters, a good guide can make the difference between a blank day and the trip of a lifetime.

Browse All Reports

The Reports page gives you a feed of all public reports across every venue on fishing.ie. It's the quickest way to see what's happening across the country right now — who's catching what, where, and on what methods.

Use it to spot patterns, discover venues you haven't tried, or just enjoy reading about other anglers' sessions.

Join or Create an Angling Club

A club profile on fishing.ie showing the Competitions tab with season leaderboard and upcoming competition

fishing.ie supports angling clubs — groups of anglers who fish together and want a shared presence on the platform.

What clubs can do:

  • Create a club profile with a custom logo, description, location, and member list
  • Tag reports to the club so they appear on the club page — your club badge shows on every tagged report
  • Members can join and leave clubs freely
  • Club admins can manage members, edit the club profile, and upload a club logo
  • Club profiles appear at /clubs/your-club-name with About, Reports, and Members tabs

Clubs can also run competitions with results and leaderboards, create events with RSVP tracking, and post announcements to keep members informed. It's a complete hub for your angling club — free to create, and it gives your members a place to organise, compete, and share their fishing.

Articles & Guides

The Articles section is a growing library of in-depth guides written specifically for fishing in Ireland.

The flagship article — The Complete Guide to Fishing in Ireland — covers everything from species and seasons to licences, methods, and what gear to bring. It's the most comprehensive single resource for anyone planning to fish in Ireland, whether you're visiting for the first time or you've been fishing here for years.

More articles are being added regularly, covering topics like choosing the right fly for Irish loughs, understanding tidal fishing on the west coast, and getting started with coarse fishing. Browse the full collection at the Articles page in the main navigation.

Perfect for Beginners
